The Townsville and District Rugby Union, established in 1968, has been a reputable organization in the North Queensland community for over 50 years. With divisions ranging from Under 8s to Under 17s for Boys and Girls in the Juniors, and four Senior Men’s and Women’s Competitions, the TDRU oversees the development of the game at a grassroots level through various programs and the implementation of Representative Rugby.
Comprising over 3000 registered players across 10 different clubs, the Townsville and District Rugby Union aims to provide a complete rugby umbrella for all individuals, from juniors to golden oldies. The organization’s vision is to be recognized as the leading sporting association in the region, offering opportunities for players of all ages and skill levels to participate in the sport they love.
Managed by a dedicated staff at Mike Carney Toyota Park, the Townsville and District Rugby Union operates under the guidance of a management committee elected at the Annual General Meeting. The organization not only focuses on local competitions but also fields a representative team, the Brolgas, who compete in Statewide, Country, and international rugby competitions, showcasing the talent and passion for rugby in the region.
