Established in 1952, Wollongong Workshop Theatre (WWT) is the longest running community theatre group in Wollongong. We produce several shows each year, all of which provide our local community with access to the world of theatre production on stage and behind the scenes. At its core, Workshop aims to foster, encourage and support local talent by offering opportunities for performers, writers, directors and production crew to get involved in our shows. For audiences, our annual seasons offer a range of high quality and affordable productions, often including new works written and devised right here in the Illawarra!
Our mission is to inspire an appreciation of theatre amongst the members of Workshop and the community at large, develop and promote locally written and produced works, encourage all forms of theatre-making in a supportive environment, whilst promoting it to the region, and collaborate with other organisations and groups to foster an environment of creativity and support around all aspects of theatre-making. Workshop relies on the involvement of people from across the community, and we welcome performers and volunteers of all backgrounds and experience levels.
WWT is located on Dharawal Country. We acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the traditional owners of the lands on which we perform and throughout Australia, and pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging. Join us today and discover the magic of Wollongong theatre for yourself! To keep up to date with the latest WWT happenings, follow us on social media.
