The Wide Bay Women’s Health Centre was established in 1989 by a group of dedicated women in the Hervey Bay and Maryborough region who recognized the lack of resources available for women. The Centre aims to improve the quality of life for women in Queensland by offering a wide range of health services, empowering women, and enhancing their physical and emotional well-being.
The Centre provides confidential services covering all aspects of women’s health, including sexual assault counseling, information and referral services, self-development groups, workshops, and support for domestic violence issues. Their philosophy revolves around respecting the inherent dignity and worth of each individual, promoting kindness, honesty, openness, and responsibility in their work, and building trusting relationships with their clients.
Furthermore, the Wide Bay Women’s Health Centre acknowledges the ‘Butchulla’ people as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which they operate, emphasizing the importance of environmental stewardship and the principles of sharing and respecting resources. The Centre expresses gratitude to their funders and donors for their support in enabling them to provide essential services to women in need.
