School Sport WA (SSWA) is an association of school teachers dedicated to promoting, organizing, and coordinating sporting competitions for school students at various levels. With a focus on encouraging maximal participation, SSWA offers a range of quality sporting programs tailored to the experience, skill level, maturity, and interests of the students. Membership in SSWA is automatically granted to teachers when their school is formally recognized by the Western Australian Department of Education, fostering a strong network of educators committed to enhancing the sports experience for students.
Managed by a Board of Management comprising Primary and Secondary Teachers, SSWA collaborates closely with the Department of Education, State Sport Associations, local government, and other key organizations to ensure the success of its sporting competitions. The association employs a dedicated team of full-time and part-time officers who work tirelessly to oversee the operations and logistics of the various programs offered. Additionally, teachers in schools volunteer their time to support SSWA’s initiatives, further demonstrating the collective commitment to providing enriching sporting opportunities for students.
Founded on the principles of inclusivity and excellence, School Sport WA has a rich history of fostering a culture of sportsmanship and teamwork among school students in Western Australia. By organizing competitions at local, regional, interstate, and international levels, SSWA aims to not only develop students’ athletic abilities but also instill valuable life skills such as leadership, resilience, and collaboration. With a strong emphasis on cooperation and partnership with various stakeholders, SSWA continues to play a pivotal role in promoting the importance of sports in education and overall student development.
