Detailed Information

The Rockhampton Flexible Learning Centre (FLC) was established in 2014 as a mobile program before becoming a registered secondary school in 2015. Operating in the Edmund Rice tradition, the FLC aims to provide education to young people who are disengaged from traditional schooling. The school has grown steadily since its inception, focusing on developing a curriculum that meets the needs of its students and fostering a school culture where students can feel accepted, reflect, heal, and progress in their education.

At Rockhampton FLC, the emphasis is on holistic learning options for young people, with a strong focus on social and emotional well-being. The school collaborates with various organizations within the local community to deliver programs that support the educational and future work options of its students. Offering a range of learning options, including health and wellbeing programs, cultural activities, and outdoor adventure-based experiences, the FLC aims to equip students with foundational skills for future employment and positive community engagement.

The school’s commitment to child safeguarding is paramount, with a focus on creating a safe and inclusive environment for all students. Through a set of core principles including Respect, Participation, Honesty, and Safety, the FLC ensures that students are supported in their learning journey and encouraged to govern themselves within this framework. With a strong focus on individualized learning and student well-being, Rockhampton FLC strives to prepare young people for a successful transition from school to work, emphasizing the importance of student voice and agency in shaping their educational experience.
