Nganboo Borron School is a newly established specialist school located in Werribee, Victoria, that caters to students with mild to profound intellectual disabilities. The school, which opened its doors in 2024, aims to provide a nurturing and supportive educational environment for children aged 5 to 18 years old. With modern learning areas equipped with air conditioning and heating, as well as outdoor spaces featuring shade sails for sun protection, Nganboo Borron School prioritizes creating a sustainable and manageable setting for its students.
Under the leadership of Michele Marcu as the inaugural principal, Nganboo Borron School was formerly known as Lollypop Creek Specialist School during its planning and design phase. The school’s name was chosen following a community consultation process, with “Nganboo Borron” translating to “children first, nurturing on your shoulder” in Wadawurrung language. The school’s enrolment criteria are specific to students with intellectual disabilities, requiring a formal assessment to determine eligibility for enrollment.
Supported by government funding and part of the Victorian School Building Authority’s initiatives, Nganboo Borron School is committed to providing specialized education programs tailored to meet the high needs of its students. With a focus on inclusivity and accessibility, the school does not have designated school zones, welcoming applications from eligible students regardless of their residential location. Additionally, the school offers transportation assistance programs to support families in ensuring their children can access the educational opportunities provided by Nganboo Borron School.
