Melbourne Indigenous Transition School (MITS) is a specialized transition school and boarding program located on Wurundjeri Country in Richmond, catering to Indigenous students from remote and regional communities across the Top End of the Northern Territory and Victoria. With a focus on empowering young Indigenous individuals, MITS provides a culturally safe environment that fosters academic, social, and emotional growth. The school offers a Year 7 program to 22 students annually, aiming to create pathways to greater opportunities for its students.
Founded by CEO Edward, MITS has a strong commitment to supporting Indigenous students in pursuing education away from home in Melbourne. The school collaborates with various partner schools and organizations to provide a vibrant curriculum that celebrates Indigenous cultures and prepares students for future success.
