Knox Basketball Stadium, established in 1965, has been a cornerstone of the City of Knox community, providing a platform for youth to develop personal, team, and social skills in a sporting environment. Founded by Alf Stevens, Alice Jago, and Heather Kemp, the stadium started as an after-school competition and has since grown to encompass multiple facilities, including the Mossfield Avenue Facility in Ferntree Gully and the 3-court facility in Park Crescent at Boronia, which expanded to six courts in 1989.
In 2012, Knox Basketball, in collaboration with Knox City Council, unveiled the modern State Basketball Centre in Wantirna South, featuring six additional courts under the management of Knox Basketball. The association is governed by a board that oversees strategic direction, promotion, and administration of basketball in Victoria, the City of Knox, and surrounding areas. Knox Basketball offers a range of programs, including introductory basketball sessions for children of all abilities, school holiday camps, and a schools program that engages with over 80 local schools.
The Knox Basketball Stadium and the State Basketball Centre provide versatile spaces for meetings, functions, social events, and elite competitions. The State Basketball Centre boasts a 3,150-seat show court, offering a premier venue for basketball enthusiasts. With a focus on community engagement and skill development, Knox Basketball Stadium continues to be a hub for sports enthusiasts and aspiring athletes in the Australian basketball landscape.
