Her Place Women’s Museum is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to celebrating the social, civic, and entrepreneurial achievements of Australian women and their significant contributions to shaping the nation. Established in 2014 through a merger with Women’s Museum of Australia, Her Place aims to create a public space that honors women’s accomplishments through exhibitions, public programs, educational resources, and an archive. With a vision to inspire girls and highlight both known and unknown women who have influenced the country’s landscape, Her Place strives to be a vibrant hub of discovery and debate, showcasing the essential role women play in Australian society.

Since receiving seed funding from the State Government in 2016, Her Place has been actively working towards establishing a physical museum and a digital archive to preserve women’s records and stories. In 2018, the Victorian State Government granted $1 million to the National Trust to provide Her Place Women’s Museum with a permanent home in East Melbourne. As a member of the International Association of Women’s Museums, Her Place is part of a global network that aims to increase the visibility of women’s museums and promote collaboration among initiatives worldwide. Recognized by the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission, Her Place also holds Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status, allowing tax-deductible donations to support its mission.

Her Place Women’s Museum Australia stands as a unique cultural attraction in Melbourne, offering changing exhibitions, traveling displays, and educational resources that highlight the diverse achievements of Australian women. Committed to creating a contemporary and inclusive space that acknowledges women’s contributions to society, Her Place serves as a testament to the resilience, creativity, and leadership of women throughout history. With a focus on inspiring future generations and fostering dialogue around gender equality, Her Place continues to evolve as a vital institution that champions the empowerment and recognition of women in Australia.
