Detailed Information

Headland Park, formerly the site of 6 Defence bases, is a unique business that showcases remnant military structures dating back to the late 1800s. Located in Mosman, the homeland of the Borogegal People, Headland Park also holds a notable connection to the Traditional Custodians and Owners of Broken Bay. The park is divided into three precincts – Chowder Bay, Georges Heights, and Middle Head / Gubbuh Gubbuh – each offering a distinct experience for visitors.

Chowder Bay, one of the precincts of Headland Park, is a picturesque waterfront retreat featuring charming eateries, coastal tracks, and access to Clifton Gardens beach. Georges Heights, another precinct, boasts coastal bush trails, a vibrant community of artists, cafés, restaurants, and a weekly market. Meanwhile, Middle Head / Gubbuh Gubbuh, located on the tip of the Mosman peninsula, offers a boutique café experience, tennis facilities, and the chance to explore historic military landmarks.

Headland Park is managed by the Harbour Trust, established by the Australian Government in 2001 to protect former Defence sites and make them accessible to the public. The Trust’s vision includes amplifying the heritage and environmental values of its destinations through storytelling and conservation efforts. Volunteers play a crucial role in educating the public about the park’s history and supporting various functions. With ongoing projects aligned with their strategic plans, Headland Park continues to engage with the community and preserve its rich heritage for future generations.
