Government Education and Training International (GETI) is the international unit of the Tasmanian Department for Education, Children and Young People (DECYP). GETI is dedicated to managing international programs in Tasmanian Government Schools and TasTAFE. With a strong commitment to acknowledging and honoring the Tasmanian Aboriginal Community as the traditional custodians of Lutruwita, GETI strives to create a culturally inclusive and respectful learning environment for all students.
GETI’s philosophy revolves around fostering a sense of belonging and safety for every Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander child and young person. By recognizing the importance of cultural heritage and the role of Elders, past and present, GETI aims to ensure that all students feel known, safe, well, and supported in their educational journey. Through its programs and initiatives, GETI works towards promoting diversity, equity, and inclusivity in education.
As a key player in international education in Tasmania, GETI plays a vital role in providing quality education and training opportunities for students from diverse backgrounds. With a focus on collaboration and respect for Aboriginal culture, GETI continues to uphold its commitment to creating a supportive and enriching learning environment for all students, while honoring the traditional custodians of the land.
