The Geraldton Regional Library, established in 1968 and later becoming a Regional Library in 1979, has been a cornerstone of the Mid-West Region, providing essential advice and support to 26 libraries. In 2010, the library relocated to its current premises at 37 Marine Terrace, a former supermarket site, to accommodate its expanding services, collection, and clientele base.
Membership at the Geraldton Regional Library is free for residents of the City of Greater Geraldton and the Mid West region, offering borrowing privileges for up to twelve items, including DVDs. The library also provides access to public computers, printing, scanning, and free Wi-Fi. Additionally, the library extends its services through the Mobile Outreach program, catering to residents in assisted living facilities and those unable to visit the library in person.
Committed to community engagement, the library hosts workshops, discovery sessions, and operates an Inter Library Loan system, allowing patrons to access materials from other public libraries in Western Australia. The Friends of the Library group, comprising volunteers, supports the library’s role as a community hub by promoting quality library and information services through regular meetings and activities.
