The Geraldton Flexible Learning Centre (GFLC) has been operating since 2010, providing a much-needed alternative option for education in the Midwest region of Western Australia. GFLC offers a supportive learning environment for young people who have been disengaged from mainstream education, drawing on the philosophy of Edmund Rice Education Australia (EREA) and emphasizing principles of respect, honesty, safety, legality, and participation.
As a Curriculum and Re-Engagement (CARE) school, GFLC works closely with various government and non-government agencies to support positive outcomes for youth in the region. The school offers tailored Individual Learning Plans developed in consultation with teachers, youth workers, students, and families. GFLC’s curriculum includes immersive learning experiences, project-based learning, and senior transition programs to help students achieve academic success and develop essential life skills.
In addition to its core programs, GFLC offers specialized initiatives such as the Mobile Engagement Program (MEP) and various wellbeing programs aimed at enhancing social, emotional, and cultural wellbeing among students. By providing a range of educational and support services, GFLC strives to meet the diverse needs of its student cohort while adhering to educational standards set by the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCASA) and Catholic Education Western Australia (CEWA).
