Federation Walk Coastal Reserve is a natural public space located on the Gold Coast, spanning 60 hectares of vegetation and nearly three kilometers of shoreline. This reserve, stretching from Sea World to The Spit, boasts an established dune system and diverse habitats that support a variety of birdlife. The project to conserve and enhance the reserve was initiated by the community in 1999, leading to the construction of the Federation Walk track and ongoing community planting activities.
The network of trails within the Federation Walk Coastal Reserve is popular among outdoor enthusiasts for activities such as bushwalking, birdwatching, running, and bike riding. The reserve’s commitment to conservation is evident through the annual planting of over 10,000 native plant species to rejuvenate and protect the area. Visitors can immerse themselves in the natural beauty of the Gold Coast, explore waterfalls, and experience various natural attractions and trails while enjoying the off-leash dog exercise area along The Spit beach.
With a focus on community engagement and environmental preservation, Federation Walk Coastal Reserve invites individuals to join them on various dates throughout the year for events and activations. The reserve’s dedication to creating a sustainable and enjoyable outdoor space is reflected in its history of collaboration with local organizations and ongoing efforts to maintain the pathways and signage for visitor safety and convenience.
