Doncaster Kindergarten is a non-profit community service that has been providing educational pre-school programs for families with young children since its opening in March 1968. Owned and run by a voluntary Committee of Management comprised of dedicated parents, the kindergarten offers a nurturing environment where children aged 3 and 4 can engage in a variety of open-ended and educator-led experiences that promote creativity, socialization, problem-solving, and exploration.
The philosophy at Doncaster Kindergarten revolves around valuing each child as a unique individual and capable learner, with a strong emphasis on treating every child equally and with respect, regardless of race, culture, ability, or gender. The programs are designed to foster the physical, intellectual, social, and emotional growth of the children, encouraging them to become confident and involved learners. Educators plan activities based on the children’s interests, family input, and developmental needs, with a focus on learning through play and a mix of free-choice and group activities.
Committed to child safety, Doncaster Kindergarten prioritizes creating a safe, happy, and empowering environment for all children, staff, and volunteers. With a zero-tolerance policy towards child abuse, the organization follows strict procedures to identify and address any safety concerns promptly. Additionally, the kindergarten acknowledges and respects the Wurundjeri tribe of the Kulin Nation as the traditional owners of the land, aiming to promote awareness and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures within its services.
