Dandenong Day Nursery, established in 1976 on Bunurong Country, is a community-run early childhood service dedicated to providing a nurturing environment for children and families. With a team of experienced educators, the nursery focuses on fostering a love for learning through play-based activities that encompass communication, literacy, numeracy, physical activity, and emotional well-being. Cultural awareness, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives, is integrated into the curriculum to promote understanding and respect among all children.
Committed to supporting children’s holistic development, Dandenong Day Nursery offers a range of services including funded 3 and 4-year-old kindergarten programs, long day care, and Family Day Care. The center’s philosophy aligns with the “Early Years Learning Framework” emphasizing the importance of children’s connections to family, community, culture, and place. By valuing each child’s unique interests, abilities, and cultural background, the nursery creates an inclusive and supportive learning environment that encourages growth and exploration.
With a focus on healthy eating and nutrition, all meals are prepared on-site by a dedicated cook to ensure children’s well-being and development. The center’s long-standing team of educators, including bachelor-qualified staff, provides consistency and quality care for children. Through capturing children’s everyday experiences and interests, Dandenong Day Nursery celebrates the joy of learning and growth, fostering a sense of belonging and becoming for every child and family in their care.
