The Croatian Ethnic School ACT, based at the Australian Croatian Club in Turner, Canberra, has been a cornerstone of Croatian cultural education since its establishment in May 1972. Celebrating its 40th Anniversary in 2012, the school was founded by the Sisters of Adorers of the Precious Blood of Christ. Students aged 5 to 13 receive comprehensive instruction in language, history, culture, and drama, fostering a deep connection to their Croatian heritage.
In addition to the children’s program, the school offers adult Croatian classes through CIT Solutions, providing an opportunity for learners of all ages to engage with the language and culture. The adult classes, held at the Woden campus, offer an 8-week introductory course designed to immerse participants in the richness of the Croatian language. This commitment to lifelong learning reflects the school’s dedication to preserving and promoting Croatian traditions within the community.
Enrolments at the Croatian Ethnic School ACT are open throughout the year, welcoming students and families to join in the exploration of Croatian language and heritage. With a focus on language proficiency, historical understanding, and cultural appreciation, the school plays a vital role in nurturing a sense of identity and belonging among the Croatian community in Canberra. By offering a range of educational opportunities, the school continues to uphold its mission of preserving and sharing the vibrant Croatian culture with future generations.
