City Recital Hall is a purpose-built live performance venue located in the heart of Sydney’s CBD, offering world-class acoustics and a 1238-seat auditorium tuned for an occupied reverberation rate of 1.75 seconds. Since its opening in 1999, City Recital Hall has been a hub for contemporary and classical music performances, hosting renowned presenting partners such as the Australian Chamber Orchestra, Musica Viva Australia, Australian Brandenburg Orchestra, Pinchgut Opera, and Sydney Symphony Orchestra. The venue’s commitment to excellence and sustainability is evident in its curated program that aims to provide inclusive and elevated audience experiences.

Established as a not-for-profit company in 2015, City Recital Hall Limited is dedicated to creating exceptional live music experiences for Sydney residents and visitors. The venue’s rich history stems from extensive lobbying by Sydney’s arts community for a purpose-built recital space, resulting in a consortium of leading music organizations becoming Presenting Partners. With a focus on connecting people through live music, fostering creativity, and upholding a reputation for excellence, City Recital Hall continues to be a premier destination for diverse and engaging musical performances.

City Recital Hall’s commitment to inclusivity extends to acknowledging the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation, on whose land the venue stands, and showing respect to Elders past and present as well as all Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people. By offering a platform for both established and emerging artists, City Recital Hall strives to be a performing arts center known for its world-class acoustic environment, diverse programming, and lasting impact on the cultural landscape of Sydney. Whether hosting intimate solo shows, collaborative performances, or large-scale productions, the venue’s dedication to fostering connections, imagination, and excellence shines through in every event staged within its walls.
