Detailed Information

Chinese Parents Special Support Network (CPSSN) is a non-profit, non-denominational parents’ support group in Melbourne dedicated to assisting Chinese families with children who have special needs, including autism, learning difficulties, and intellectual disabilities. Since its establishment in 2015, CPSSN has been actively involved in various initiatives to support these families, such as the development of the Autism ID and lanyard in collaboration with the Box Hill Police station. This innovative project aims to create a safer and more understanding environment for young people with Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) who often travel independently on public transport.

CPSSN’s core mission is to enhance parents’ understanding of effective communication and education strategies for children with special needs. By empowering parents to access government and community services tailored to their children’s requirements, CPSSN plays a crucial role in facilitating the dissemination of parenting knowledge and fostering mutual support among Chinese-speaking families. Through workshops, CPSSN provides a platform for parents to share experiences, build connections, and expand their social networks, ultimately enhancing community access for children with special needs and their families.

With a strong focus on advocacy, education, and community engagement, CPSSN is committed to providing a supportive and inclusive environment for Chinese families navigating the challenges of raising children with special needs. By organizing social activities and facilitating access to essential services, CPSSN strives to empower parents, promote awareness, and foster a sense of belonging within the community. Through its ongoing efforts, CPSSN continues to make a meaningful impact in the lives of families facing the complexities of caring for children with special needs.
