The Canberra Walk-In Aviary is a 1000 square meter privately owned walk-in aviary located in Gold Creek Village, Canberra. Established by passionate bird enthusiasts, the aviary offers visitors an interactive experience with approximately 500 birds from nearly 60 different species, including parrots, finches, doves, and quail. The owners’ mission is to share their extensive collection of feathered friends and allow people to connect with these beautiful creatures in a natural setting.
Upon admission, visitors are provided with a small plate of food and mealworms to feed the birds, some of which may even land on you. The aviary does not sell birds or endorse such practices. With a focus on education and enjoyment, the Canberra Walk-In Aviary encourages guests to observe, photograph, and interact with the friendly free-flying birds. The aviary is a sanctuary where the birds and humans coexist harmoniously, fostering a deeper appreciation for these winged wonders.
Located just 20 minutes from Canberra’s city center, the aviary is open seven days a week, weather permitting, offering group booking discounts, gift vouchers, and annual passes for visitors to enjoy multiple visits throughout the year. As part of their commitment to safety, the aviary has implemented COVID-19 guidelines, including social distancing measures and limited capacity to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all patrons.
