Detailed Information

Museum of Brisbane, located within the iconic Brisbane City Hall, is a leading history and art museum celebrating the creatives and history-makers who deepen our understanding of the city’s culture and heritage. Established in 2003 and temporarily relocated during City Hall’s restoration, the museum reopened in 2013 with a significant refurbishment, now housed in a purpose-built gallery on the top floor of the building.

At Museum of Brisbane, visitors can experience the vibrant culture of the city through interactive exhibitions, provocative displays, and a commitment to showcasing the stories and artworks of Brisbane’s storytellers. The museum acknowledges the historical significance of Brisbane’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, fostering reconciliation and cultural engagement through programs that expand opportunities for exchange and collaboration across First Nations communities.

The Clock Tower Tour offered by Museum of Brisbane is a must-do experience for visitors, providing a unique perspective of the city from Brisbane’s tallest building. The tour includes a ride in one of Brisbane’s oldest working cage lifts, a look behind Australia’s largest analogue clock faces, and time to explore the observation platform. With a focus on history and art, the Clock Tower Tour is led by knowledgeable Visitor Experience Officers who offer insights into the Clock Tower and Brisbane’s rich heritage.
