Welcome to Bentleigh Early Child Education Co-operative (BECEC), a not-for-profit co-operative run Early Learning Centre and Government Funded Kindergarten, committed to the education and care of children. Our philosophy revolves around the principles of inclusion, community, and the belief that “it takes a village to raise a child.” Since our founding in 1980, this idea has guided our practices and intentions, ensuring that all fees from families are reinvested back into the center for the benefit of our amazing children.
As a not-for-profit center, our primary goal is the education and care of the children we serve. All funds received through family fees are directly reinvested back into the center, enhancing children’s experiences, organizing events and excursions, and providing continuous professional development for our dedicated educators. Our latest overall National Quality Framework rating was exceeding, reflecting our commitment to high-quality early childhood education.
At the heart of BECEC is a strong sense of community involvement and family representation. Led by the Centre Director and the BECEC Board of Management, which consists of 8 family representative volunteers, all parents of children attending BECEC, families play an integral role in decision-making, policy development, and the overall direction of the center. We believe in providing various avenues for families to have their voices heard, ensuring a collaborative approach to early childhood education.
