Detailed Information

The Australian Breastfeeding Association Victorian Branch, located in Dandenong, South East of Melbourne, is dedicated to providing practical mother-to-mother support and information to help mums establish and continue breastfeeding. Funded by the Victorian Department of Health, the Branch offers high-quality training, education, and resources to volunteers, health professionals, and the wider community. Through their Breastfeeding Centre, mums can access free appointments with trained breastfeeding counsellors, hire breast pumps, and access a range of publications in multiple languages to support their breastfeeding journey.

As Australia’s peak breastfeeding body, the ABA VIC Branch focuses on strengthening advocacy efforts and engaging with local health professionals to ensure best practice care for breastfeeding women and babies. They offer peer-to-peer support through local groups across metro, regional, and rural Victoria, providing meet-ups for pregnant individuals and breastfeeding parents in a friendly and relaxed environment. By becoming an ABA member, individuals can support the Association in its mission to be there for mums and their families, while also accessing the latest information and resources on breastfeeding.

The ABA VIC Branch’s commitment to supporting mums and families is evident in their inclusive approach, where mums can bring their families, children, and support people to sessions without the need for government paperwork. With a focus on accessibility and community connection, the Branch offers a range of services aimed at empowering mums to navigate their breastfeeding journey with confidence and support. Through their dedication to providing mother-to-mother support and education, the ABA VIC Branch plays a vital role in promoting and normalizing breastfeeding practices in Victoria and beyond.
