Athletics North Queensland (ANQ) was established in 1996 with the goal of providing a unified voice for athletics in the North Queensland region. ANQ focuses on addressing the specific needs of regional athletic clubs and their members by offering championship events, coaching clinics, officials training, and various forms of support to member clubs. With a growing membership of over 2780 individuals, ANQ is recognized as the fastest-growing and most progressive athletic area in Australia.
ANQ consists of Track and Field clubs and Road Running clubs spread across North Queensland, catering to individuals of all ages from 4 years to masters. Each club operates independently with its own venue, training days, competition events, and social activities, all supported by dedicated committees, coaches, officials, and volunteers. The organization’s mission is to support, unify, and develop all aspects of athletics, aiming to establish athletics as a leading sport in regional Queensland.
ANQ continues to attract state, national, and international athletic events to North Queensland, hosting various athletics carnivals and major championships. The organization’s values include treating all individuals with consideration, promoting honesty, and striving to enrich the quality of experiences for its members.
