Detailed Information

The Army Museum of South Australia (AMOSA) is a historical institution located at the historic Keswick Barracks on ANZAC Highway. Established in 1992, AMOSA aims to collect and preserve military history, offering visitors a glimpse into Australia’s rich military heritage. The museum is housed in a converted stables building dating back to 1912, with additional facilities supporting its galleries, storage, engineering, library, and archival functions.

AMOSA’s services cater to a wide range of visitors, including school groups, social clubs, and the general public. The museum’s educational program aligns with Year 9 curriculum guides for World War One studies, with flexibility to accommodate students from Years 6 to 11. Through guided tours and interactive exhibits, AMOSA provides a comprehensive learning experience that sheds light on significant historical events and the contributions of the Australian Defence Force.

At AMOSA, a dedicated team of volunteers, many of whom are former Defence Force members, play a crucial role in maintaining the museum’s operations. Under the supervision of the Australian Army History Unit, these volunteers ensure that AMOSA remains a vibrant hub for historical exploration and community engagement. By acknowledging and respecting the traditional owners of the land, the Kaurna people of the Adelaide Plains, AMOSA embodies a commitment to inclusivity and cultural awareness in sharing Australia’s military history.
