ACT Memorial was commissioned by the ACT Government to honor individuals associated with the ACT who have served in various capacities, including war, conflict, peacekeeping, and humanitarian missions. Designed and constructed by Canberra artist Matthew Harding, the memorial incorporates elements symbolizing these roles and the overarching goal of peace. It serves as a place for remembrance and contemplation, featuring a stainless steel spiral surrounding a bluestone basalt sphere etched with words like Courage, Loyalty, and Mateship.
The Canberra Region boasts a vibrant arts community, with artsACT playing a crucial role as the ACT Government’s arts agency. artsACT provides policy and funding advice, manages the ACT Arts Fund, oversees the public art collection, and supports arts facilities and organizations.
