Detailed Information

Abruzzo Lab – Arrosticini Bar offers an authentic Italian dining experience inspired by the region of Abruzzo. Head chef and owner Michelle Di Pietro’s vision has transformed the establishment into not just an Italian Eatery and Food store, but also Australia’s first Arrosticini Bar. The fast-paced open kitchen showcases locally sourced produce and a seasonal menu that highlights the diverse recipes and wines of the Abruzzo region.

Diners can enjoy the unique experience of live Arrosticini cooking on a charcoal fornacella BBQ, with the skewers served in traditional handcrafted terracotta jugs. One of the specialties, La Mugnaia, is a traditional pasta recipe from Abruzzo that can only be made by hand with time and patience. Michelle’s passion for cooking and her exploration of Abruzzese cuisine have culminated in the creation of Abruzzo Lab – Arrosticini Bar, where customers can savor quality food in a casual Italian atmosphere.

Michelle’s culinary journey began in Melbourne in 2006, leading her to Abruzzo in search of her heritage and a deeper understanding of Italian cuisine. After six years of immersing herself in the Abruzzese culture, she returned to Australia and opened Abruzzo Lab street food in 2017, followed by Abruzzo Lab – Arrosticini Bar in 2018. The focus of Abruzzo Lab is on sharing dishes reminiscent of family gatherings, reflecting the warmth and hospitality of a traditional Italian meal.
