Early Childhood Inclusion Service (ECIS) in Tasmania, Hobart, is a state-wide service dedicated to supporting children aged 0 to 4 years who require additional assistance. ECIS partners with families to foster capable and competent learners, emphasizing inclusive early education and community settings. With bases in Hobart, Launceston, Burnie, and Devonport, ECIS collaborates with families and professionals to enhance the developmental achievements of children with developmental delays or disabilities. By facilitating access to early years programs and community supports, ECIS ensures children and families receive the necessary resources for successful transitions and optimal learning experiences.

ECIS recognizes the pivotal role of families as children’s primary educators and focuses on inclusive planning in educational and community environments. By promoting high-quality inclusion through a shared community approach, ECIS aligns with Commonwealth legislation and Disability Standards for Education 2005. The service works in conjunction with the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Early Childhood Approach (ECA) to provide therapeutic interventions for children with developmental delays or disabilities. Through a holistic community strategy and collaboration with support services, ECIS aims to deliver improved outcomes for children and families, fostering a more inclusive education system for all Tasmanian children and young people.

Committed to supporting vulnerable children and young people, ECIS upholds the traditional custodianship of the Tasmanian Aboriginal Community and strives to create a safe, well, and learning environment for every Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander child and young person. As a core child-centered agency within the Tasmania State Service, ECIS prioritizes the well-being of children, young people, and their families. By offering various Early Years programs and initiatives, such as Launching into Learning and Child and Family Learning Centres, ECIS ensures that all children have the opportunity to participate in inclusive learning programs that cater to their individual strengths and interests.
