Vera Lacaze Memorial Community Kindergarten is a not-for-profit organization in Toowoomba, Australia, with a rich history spanning over 55 years. We offer a nurturing environment for children aged 3-5 years, focusing on individualized learning through play-based programs. Our kindergarten encourages curiosity and discovery, fostering a love for learning within a natural and calm setting. With a strong emphasis on reconnecting children to nature, we provide ample space for exploration and growth surrounded by trees, birds, and real grass.
Our programs are designed to develop life-long and self-motivated learners by integrating the Early Years Learning Framework and Queensland Kindergarten Curriculum guidelines. Through high-quality play-based learning experiences, we aim to cultivate positive attitudes towards learning in all aspects of a child’s development – emotional, social, physical, and intellectual. We believe in a holistic approach to education, involving open communication, reflection, observation, and collaboration among children, parents, and educators within our community.
Established in memory of the late Deputy Mayor, Alderman Vera Lacaze, our kindergarten has a strong foundation built on community support and volunteerism. Over the years, we have continued to uphold the values of inclusivity, responsiveness, and care within our close-knit community of parents and educators. Parental involvement is highly encouraged, and we offer opportunities for families to actively participate in shaping their child’s learning journey. Vera Lacaze Memorial Community Kindergarten remains a pioneer in early childhood education, dedicated to providing a nurturing and enriching environment for the young minds of Toowoomba.
