Robinson Reserve, located in Coburg, is undergoing a significant upgrade to its playground and surrounding areas. The project is a result of extensive community engagement, where residents and members of the surrounding community provided valuable feedback and ideas to enhance the park’s amenities. The final concept plan includes retaining and refurbishing existing swings, adding a 360 basket swing, and introducing an accessible double plate BBQ next to a new shelter.
The upgrade works at Robinson Reserve are set to commence in March/April 2023, with temporary fencing to be installed on 20th March 2023. The project timeline, spanning from gathering community ideas to completing the upgrade construction, reflects a thorough and inclusive process that prioritizes community input and preferences. Notably, the project aims to maintain the park’s existing greenery by not proposing the removal of any trees, while ensuring safety through tree assessments and trimming if necessary.
Supported by funding from the Victorian Government and in collaboration with Reynard Street Neighbourhood House, Robinson Reserve’s transformation aligns with Merri-bek City Council’s commitment to community engagement and quality outcomes. The park’s design elements, such as the decision to not install additional fencing around the playground due to its ‘Dogs on Leash’ status, demonstrate a thoughtful approach that balances community needs with environmental preservation and recreational enjoyment.
