With almost two million visitors annually, Libraries ACT operates nine Public Library Branches, the ACT Heritage Library, the Home Library Service, and a comprehensive website. As a part of the Transport and City Services Directorate, Libraries ACT has a rich history dating back to the late 1940s when public library services in Canberra were first established. Over the years, the organization has evolved to meet the changing needs of the community, transitioning from the National Library of Australia to the Department of Capital Territory and eventually to the ACT Government.
