Koolambidi Woola, also known as Bunbury Youth Precinct, is Bunbury’s first-ever youth-focused facility that offers a wide range of recreational activities and services for young people aged 12 to 25 years. The precinct features a multi-sports court, parkour areas, mini-golf, a youth services building, beach climbing net, event and performance space, and more. Designed by Playce and built by Advanteering Civil Engineers, Koolambidi Woola is located at Luciana Park, a site chosen after extensive community consultation and engagement.
The name Koolambidi Woola, meaning ‘celebrating young people,’ was carefully selected to reflect the facility’s purpose and values. The project received significant support from major contributors like Lotterywest and grants from government departments, showcasing a collaborative effort to bring this youth precinct to life. The precinct has been recognized with prestigious awards, including Park of the Year at the Parks and Leisure Australia 2023 Regional Awards of Excellence, highlighting its exceptional design and management practices.
In addition to providing a space for recreational activities, Koolambidi Woola also serves as a hub for community engagement and support programs for young people. With a focus on celebrating youth and promoting well-being, the precinct aims to create a vibrant and inclusive environment where young individuals can gather, participate in activities, and seek guidance and support when needed. Koolambidi Woola stands as a testament to the community’s dedication to nurturing and empowering its youth population.
