1st Sunbury Scout Group is a youth-focused organization dedicated to providing opportunities and experiences that shape tomorrow’s leaders. With a strong emphasis on leadership development and teamwork, our programs cater to a wide range of age groups, from 5 to 26 years old. We believe in the importance of connecting with nature and offer exciting camping trips, skill-building activities, and community service projects to instill a sense of responsibility and camaraderie among our members.
Founded in 1920 as “Wee Georgie Wood’s Own Troop,” 1st Sunbury Scout Group has a rich history of scouting excellence. Over the years, the group has evolved and grown, moving from its original headquarters in St. Mary’s Anglican Hall to the acquisition of the Old Fire Station in 1969 and later to the modern Miller Street Hall in 1979. Throughout its history, dedicated leaders and enthusiastic youth members have contributed to the group’s success, fostering a community of lifelong learners and responsible leaders.
Today, 1st Sunbury Scout Group continues to uphold its legacy of service and adventure, offering a dynamic and enriching scouting experience to the Sunbury community. With a modernized approach and a commitment to scouting values, the group remains at the forefront of youth empowerment and character building.
