Henry Kendall Cottage & Historical Museum, established in 1983, is a cherished historical landmark with a rich past dating back to the 19th century. Originally built by Peter Fagan with convict labor between 1836-1840, the cottage was later home to renowned poet Henry Kendall in the 1870s. Today, the museum showcases a diverse collection of memorabilia from the past, with a new special exhibition each season for visitors to explore.
Situated on two and a half acres of serene grounds, the museum complex offers a tranquil setting for visitors to unwind and immerse themselves in history. The property features various sheds housing antique industry equipment and farm machinery, providing a glimpse into the region’s past. Additionally, guests can enjoy a leisurely picnic at the onsite picnic area equipped with picnic tables and an electric barbecue, making it an ideal spot for a relaxing day out.
Owned and maintained by the Brisbane Water Historical Society since 1950, Henry Kendall Cottage & Historical Museum is dedicated to preserving the heritage of the Brisbane Water area and honoring the legacy of Henry Kendall.
