The Bridge Youth Service is a dedicated organization that focuses on assisting young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Their services include providing safe and affordable housing, supporting youth in re-engaging with education through personalized case management, and offering individual support for young parents and their children to ensure healthy development and wellbeing. Additionally, they work on improving family relationships through mediation to prevent homelessness and provide support for young individuals facing mental health or substance misuse challenges.
Established in 1995, The Bridge Youth Service originated from a commitment by the Shepparton Central Rotary Club to create a youth service that would offer advice, programs, and information to enhance the health and wellbeing of young people. Over the years, the organization has expanded its reach to support various regions, including Mitchell, Murrundindi, Moira, and Strathbogie shires, as well as the City of Greater Shepparton. With a team of over 40 staff members, The Bridge Youth Service serves between 1000-1200 young individuals annually through innovative programs funded by various government departments and fundraising activities.
The mission of The Bridge Youth Service is to create opportunities that promote safety, security, and support for young people, foster family harmony, and build strong communities to help all young individuals achieve their full potential. The organization acknowledges and respects the traditional owners of the lands they operate on, emphasizing the enduring connection of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to the land. Through their commitment to providing essential services and support, The Bridge Youth Service plays a vital role in empowering young people and creating a positive impact on their lives and communities.
