Detailed Information

Communicare Breathing Space is an intensive men’s behaviour change program located in various sites across Western Australia, including the Pilbara and Perth metropolitan suburbs. The program is specifically designed for men who choose to use violence and abuse in their relationships with partners or family members, addressing issues related to Family Domestic Violence and Abuse (FDVA). Through educational group work, informal counseling, individual case management, and advocacy, the program supports participants in making positive changes in a secure and supportive therapeutic setting.

Committed to establishing and maintaining the safety of women and children, Communicare Breathing Space provides a structured program that focuses on transitioning participants back into the broader community after successfully completing the initial intensive stage. The program accepts applications from individuals in custody seeking to join the program while on parole or bail, as well as those from the general community. With a person-centered approach to service delivery, the program aims to empower individuals to achieve safety, independence, respect, social participation, and economic security.

Deeply committed to ensuring the inclusion and value of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, Communicare Breathing Space practices trauma-informed care to better support individuals who have experienced trauma. Additionally, the program prioritizes the safety, well-being, and empowerment of children and young people, reflecting a strong commitment to child-safe principles and practices. By working collaboratively with individuals, families, and communities, Communicare Breathing Space strives to facilitate social and economic inclusion for all and establish safe and healthy communities.
