Detailed Information

Collingwood Children’s Farm is a not-for-profit organization located on a working community farm just five kilometers from Melbourne’s city center. Established in 1979, the Farm aims to support individuals facing adversity through social inclusion initiatives. Visitors can experience country life in the city by connecting with friendly farm animals, exploring gardens, attending community events, and participating in educational programs focused on environmental sustainability and respect for the Traditional Owners of the land, the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people.

One of the unique offerings of Collingwood Children’s Farm is the opportunity to host weddings at their lush and historical locations, such as the rustic Barn overlooking the gardens. The Farm also encourages individuals to become Friends of the Farm through annual memberships, providing unlimited visitor entry and supporting the Farm’s conservation efforts and inclusive programs. As a Social Traders certified social enterprise, Collingwood Children’s Farm is largely self-funded through trade, ensuring the care of animals, preservation of heritage farmland, and the continuation of impactful community initiatives.

Managed by a dedicated Committee of Management, Collingwood Children’s Farm operates with transparency, accountability, and community participation at its core. The Farm’s rich history, spanning several decades, reflects its evolution from a local community project to a beloved educational resource in Melbourne. By honoring the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people as the Traditional Owners of the land and engaging in cultural heritage work, Collingwood Children’s Farm remains committed to its mission of fostering connection, education, and nature-based experiences for all visitors.
