Detailed Information

Tamworth Regional Gallery, established over 100 years ago, has been a cornerstone of the arts scene in the regional center of Tamworth. Originally founded as the Tamworth Art Salon and Art Library with a generous donation from local artist John Salvana, the Gallery has since evolved into a vibrant hub for artistic expression and education. With a focus on providing access to the arts for all, the Gallery offers a diverse range of services including rotating national exhibitions, curated displays of regional artists’ works, workshops, lectures, and public programs.

Located in the heart of Tamworth’s CBD, Tamworth Regional Gallery is a fully accessible space that houses purpose-built exhibition areas, a conservation collection storage, a retail shop, the Esther Halliday Studio, and a research library. The Gallery’s commitment to education remains strong, echoing Salvana’s original vision of encouraging art appreciation and learning through direct engagement with original artworks. Supported by the Tamworth Regional Council and the NSW Government, the Gallery continues to play a vital role in fostering understanding and enjoyment of the visual arts.

Embracing its role in a diverse cultural landscape, Tamworth Regional Gallery extends its support beyond the city limits to reach regional and remote communities. With a focus on inclusivity and community engagement, the Gallery aims to enhance appreciation for the arts through its permanent collection, temporary exhibitions, and public programs. By acknowledging and respecting the First Peoples of the land, the Gallery recognizes the importance of cultural connection and aims to deliver enriching experiences to its audiences as part of a close-knit community.
