Detailed Information

Sydney Road Community School (SRCS) is a small, progressive, government secondary school located in Brunswick. We value individuals and celebrate diversity. Every student belongs and knows that they will be supported to meet their educational goals. Our school values: Learning, Respect, Safety and Opportunity, have been developed via the implementation of School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support. At SRCS we are always learning. We respect ourselves and each other. We build a safe and positive environment. We make the most of every opportunity.

Individualised relationship-based education underpins our teaching practice. We deliver the Victorian Curriculum for students in Year 7-10 and for senior students we offer Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) and Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL), as well as the opportunity to enrol in Vocational Education and Training (VET) and School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SBAT). We believe all students have a right to access quality education at no cost. Therefore we have no school fees, uniforms or book lists and camps and excursions are provided free of charge. Every day we endeavor to provide a free hot meal to all students at recess to encourage healthy eating and pro-social behaviors.

Students and staff work cooperatively and collectively within the school to support each other, as well as in the broader and global community. Our students learn to be critical thinkers and active citizens by taking on roles of real responsibility. We work closely with the local community. Partnerships are fundamental to our holistic wellbeing approach which meets the health, wellbeing and learning needs of our students. SRCS has three campuses, our 7-12 campus in Brunswick, and the SRCS Learning Spaces in Brunswick and Coburg. The role of the learning spaces is to support students from Hume/Merri-Bek secondary schools to re-engage in their local school program.
