Detailed Information

Torquay State School is a unique community where our entire staff feel and demonstrate a collective responsibility for each child’s learning and development. This represents an incredible collaborative approach where each student is nurtured from year to year with teachers maintaining a consistent interest in each child’s success. We encourage our children to dream big and to work hard for their futures. In our classrooms our students learn the important skills of friendship, persistence, determination, resilience and motivation.

We are centrally located within Hervey Bay making our school a great choice for parents working in and around the city centre. We have before and after school care facilities which also supports family needs. Year-round sun protection is important for all children and young people. Parents are reminded of the importance of sending children to school every day. Help keep our school safe. View the latest newsletter. View the current annual report.

Due largely to a specialized teacher and a fully functioning, stand-alone science lab, our students have developed a thirst for scientific knowledge and love to explore, ask questions and speculate on the changing world in which they live. Students focus on science content and inquiry skills to create, plan and complete investigations. In real life, scientists work collaboratively to try to solve some of our world’s big problems, so too students are encouraged to work in small groups inspire students to pose questions and to use hands-on activities to generate understanding.
