Laurimar Thunder Basketball Club (LTBC) was established in 2009 in Doreen and has quickly become a prominent member of the Diamond Valley Basketball Association. Since its inception, LTBC has seen remarkable growth, starting with a few junior teams in 2010 and now boasting 30 boys and girls teams catering to various skill levels. The club’s commitment to inclusivity and community spirit is evident in its not-for-profit volunteer organization structure, where the hard work and dedication of the Committee, Coaches, and Team Managers are essential to its success.
One of LTBC’s standout initiatives is its focus on promoting women in sport by championing girls’ teams with their own name, uniform, and unique identity within the club. This strategic decision has not only empowered young female athletes but has also fostered a strong sense of belonging and camaraderie among the players, particularly the Thunder Birds. By providing a platform for girls to excel in basketball, LTBC is contributing to the broader movement of gender equality in sports and inspiring the next generation of female athletes.
As LTBC gears up for the upcoming seasons, the club welcomes new players and volunteers to join their basketball community. With a range of opportunities available, from coaching to fundraising and administration, there is a place for everyone to contribute to the club’s continued success. Whether you are a seasoned player or a beginner looking to learn the ropes, LTBC’s Come and Try evenings offer a welcoming environment to develop basketball skills and experience the thrill of the game.
