Detailed Information

Bunbury and Districts Badminton Association has a rich history rooted in passion and commitment, serving as an integral part of the South West community since its establishment. Originally formed in the 1960s, the Association was born out of the need for dedicated badminton facilities in the Greater Bunbury area. Through collaborative efforts with various clubs and the support of the Shire of Bunbury, a specialized badminton facility was constructed in 1973, equipped with essential amenities to cater to the growing badminton community.

Over the years, Bunbury Badminton has evolved into a prominent player in the Western Australian tournament circuit, hosting prestigious events such as the Whyte Trophy in 1983. The Association’s commitment to nurturing talent is evident through its contribution of junior players to state and national levels, with some even representing Australia at the Commonwealth Games. Through continuous fundraising and community support, Bunbury Badminton has expanded its facilities, including a mezzanine floor for enhanced clubroom amenities and a top-of-the-line vinyl playing surface sourced from Queensland.

Today, Bunbury and Districts Badminton Association boasts a thriving community of over 160 full members, affiliated with Badminton WA. In addition to permanent members, the Association welcomes social and casual players, school groups, and hosts private tournaments for clubs and groups. With a focus on inclusivity, the Association provides coaching for juniors and runs specialized sessions for young individuals with additional needs, ensuring a socially inclusive environment for all participants.
