Detailed Information

Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) is a cultural hub that pays homage to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ancestors of the land. With a history spanning almost 40 years, QPAC serves as a platform for over 1,200 performances annually, welcoming more than 1.5 million visitors. Through a commitment to excellence in live performance, QPAC aims to engage audiences, foster connections, and contribute to a more resilient and inclusive community. The Centre’s diverse range of offerings includes ballet, music, international tours, musicals, and more, providing a space for audiences and artists to come together, share stories, and celebrate the transformative power of the arts.

As a venue, producer, and investor, QPAC offers an inspiring and welcoming environment for all, supporting the development of new productions and nurturing emerging artists. The Centre’s dedication to cultural thinking is evident in its Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), which aims to deepen connections with First Nations peoples of Queensland through leadership and programming. Located in the vibrant South Bank precinct, QPAC is a Statutory Body of the Queensland Government, governed by a Board of Trustees and managed by an Executive Group focused on achieving strategic priorities. With a rich history rooted in the region’s cultural evolution, QPAC continues to be a beacon of creativity and community engagement.

Since its official opening in 1985, QPAC has hosted over 30 million visitors and more than 33,500 performances, featuring renowned artists and major presentations from around the world. The Centre serves as a performance home to Queensland’s major arts companies and regularly welcomes visiting performers from across the country. With ongoing developments, including the construction of a new 1,500-seat venue set for completion in 2024, QPAC is poised to become the largest performing arts centre in Australia. Embracing a philosophy of exploration, inspiration, and creativity, QPAC invites audiences to join in the journey of artistic discovery and cultural enrichment.
