Welcome to the Parenting and Family Support Centre (PFSC) at The University of Queensland School of Psychology, home of the Triple P – Positive Parenting Program. The PFSC is a world leader in the development, implementation, evaluation, and dissemination of population-based approaches to parenting and family interventions. The primary aim of the PFSC is to prevent behavioral and emotional problems in children by enhancing the skills and confidence of parents and addressing family risk factors known to contribute to adverse developmental outcomes in children.
The PFSC collaborates with research groups worldwide, remains informed of research developments, and disseminates research findings internationally. PFSC research activities establish the scientific basis of all aspects of Triple P intervention and dissemination, including rigorous evaluation of new program variants. Triple P is a scientifically researched family intervention strategy designed to assist parents in improving their parenting skills and building positive relationships with their children. The program is currently utilized in over 26 countries, translated into 20 languages, and has positively impacted millions of children globally.
In addition to its research and intervention efforts, the PFSC focuses on contributing to policy development that may affect families. Through consultation with government ministers and policy advisers, as well as dissemination of research findings, the PFSC aims to influence policies that support families. Staff members at the PFSC are actively engaged in national and state professional associations, serving on editorial boards for journals, grant review committees, and policy-forming bodies. Their expertise is also frequently sought by the media, with the center’s activities being featured in various current affairs programs, newspaper articles, and magazines.
